A recent study from Buddy Media on effective Twitter Tips ran over 20 pages. Social Jumpstart dove in and pulled out these salient 10 facts and tips for your reference:
1) Twitter engagement is 17% higher on weekends. Schedule some Tweets for Saturday and Sunday.
2) The weakest engagement days are Wednesday and Thursday
3) Alternate Facebook Posts and Tweets to different days and times
4) 100 characters perform better than those closer to 140. Shorter is better.
5) Use of a hash-tag (#) increases engagement 2X – yet only 24% of tweets use them
6) Don’t use more than 2 hash-tags in a tweet though. Otherwise engagement drops
7) It’s ok to ask followers to “retweet” and it definitely works.
8) Spell out “Retweet” vs. RT and the rate is multiples higher!
9) Image attachments can double the engagement rate of your tweets
10) Tweet 4 times per day or LESS
