Staying active on Social Media is the difference between looking like you care about your company’s image or not.  There’s nothing worse than searching for a business you’re interested in and realizing the last update was posted back in 2011.   An inactive Facebook or Twitter account symbolizes a lack of commitment on your part; indicating plain ole laziness.  If you leave the social media world for a couple weeks (or even worse- months), everything may look the same when you return.  But what you can’t see is how many potential fans or customers stopped by in your absence and left with nothing.

If tweets coming in or  comments being left on your Facebook are ignored or aren’t responded to in a timely fashion, your customer service is being effected.  Most people are now turning to the Internet to get answers to their questions- are you there and ready to answer?  Being active on social media keeps your business present in your customer’s mind.  There may be days when someone didn’t even realize they needed your product or service until they come across your recent blog post in their newsfeed.   Little reminders like this symbolizes you’re available and ready to help, resulting in undeniable benefits to your success.

If you’re stuck on what to post, remember it doesn’t have to be a bunch of stuff everyday.  Pick a schedule and stick with it.  Ask your audience a question.  You can provide sneak-peaks of a new product or share hints about the launch.  Update old content and repost, or share other people’s content if it’s valuable.  If you ever feel stuck, just get creative.  Creativity never goes unappreciated; take our Instagram account for example.  We were a little stuck on what to post, and decided to take our favorite inspirational marketing quotes and add them to some cool backgrounds we own.   Suddenly, a platform we never saw as beneficial to our business became a fun project that shows off our personality a little bit and forms new connections.

Your effort to remain active on social media will pay off, so stick with it and you’ll start to see a difference in the interactions you have with your customers.   If you have any questions, comments, or extra tips just post them below.
