In a previous post, we introduced a couple tips to set your business apart from the crowd using the photo sharing social network Instagram.  The visual platform continues to rise as another great way to tell the story of your business.   We’ve come up with extra tips on how to use Instagram for business, engage  with your customers, and make them feel a part of your world:

  • Engage with other users.  Liking and commenting  photos of users you want to follow you will  increase the chance they’ll do so.  If a user sees an unfamiliar “like”, their curiosity is likely to get the best of them and they’ll check out your profile.
  • Add your logo to your photos.  Doing so guarantees the photo can always be retraced back to your business.  The more times your photo is reshared, the less likely your tag and credit will follow.  Don’t add a logo that overshadows the picture, but something in the corner will do.  If the photo happens to go viral, you’ll be especially happy you did this.
  • Use location services.  Your local businesses can benefit by being found on this map.   Your presence will also be seen if you happen to be at a conference or host an event.
  • Answer questions with a photo.  Can a popular question your customers come to you with be answered simply and visually?  Go for it.  Creativeness never goes unappreciated, so post your question in the caption and let the picture provide the answer.
  • Create your own meme.   This is an easy way to portray your brand’s personality by portraying something popular people can relate to.
  • Document new product launches through a hashtag you choose.   Categorizing the journey in a one-click spot will make it easy for new and potential customers to follow the conversation and understand your story.
  • Encourage customers to post their own photos of their experience with your product or service.  People love being featured, so create a gallery on your website that showcases them and it will help build a sense of community.
