Jelly App

Jelly, not to be confused with the small business rewards program Belly, is a new question and answer app released yesterday by a co-founder of Twitter and it’s getting a lot of attention in the tech press. Essentially it is a question and answer app using pictures. Think Instagram  meets Yahoo Answers or Quora.

We’re always keeping an eye out for the latest news and trends in social, mobile and more and keeping that eye on how these trends could impact the Small and Medium Business. Our quick take is while Jelly is a well crafted and interesting Q&A app there’s no immediate need for small business to implement it into your social media line up.

An interesting premise of the app is more than simply getting you question answered but also benefiting the person who provides that answer. By helping others the apps creator feels it supports and spreads empathy and the motivation for others to help.

Should the app take off and become very popular (totally unpredictable) we do see some potential applications for businesses and organizations in the future. It could be a great way to connect with prospects and customers helping to answer specific questions where a business owner has expertise. So there is a possibily that Jelly would become an extension of the type of value you provide today on your Facebook Page or even with Twitter or LinkedIn.

But that remains to be seen so for now you’re better off staying focused you’re your key major social platforms and not worry about this latest shiny new object in tech.
