a twenty-something-year-old, our iPhone is our lifeline. Just because we may not use our cell phones to make calls anymore, doesn’t mean we don’t use it in every other aspect of our lives. Interacting with friends, sharing moments and photos, navigating, and paying someone back is all accomplished on our smart phone. Young adults are the leaders in mobile app use and our addiction has led us to become quite savvy on what apps we can and cannot live without. Next to the basic must-have apps on all of our phones (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) here are a couple of other essential ones to download:

Snapchat: Faster is always better, and if there’s a way to share a photo 10x faster than a text, we’re in. Snapchat enables you to share real-time photos and videos, with the option to add text and drawings. The sender chooses between 1-10 seconds the recipient will have to view it before the photo disappears forever. Snapchat makes it possible to send your special moment to multiple people you choose at the same time. Efficient photo-sharing? Now you have our attention!

Vine: Vine is a quirky way to shoot and share videos. Their maximum length is only six seconds but the GIF-like effect and looping of the finished clip is very attractive to young adults. Good news- Vine finally arrived on Android this week. We can’t get enough of these simple videos that share what’s happening in our world with friends and family.

Waze: We rely heavily on our iPhone to give us step- by-step directions to our destination. What makes Waze different from other navigation apps? It’s a community of users who share real-time traffic and road condition updates. Waze learns your preferred routes and even finds the cheapest gas on the way. You work together with your friends and other users to keep everyone on the road safe, happy, and on time! Don’t just take our word for it – last week Google bought Waze for a cool billion dollars!

Venmo: Honestly, who carries cash anymore? Out to dinner with friends and splitting the bill? Forgot your wallet? Venmo allows you to transfer money through friends on the spot. Splitting rent, chipping in for gas, and throwing down for pizza can all be paid instantly on your phone. Either make the transaction public on the newsfeed or choose to keep it private. Ultimately Venmo gives us more time to enjoy time with our friends by avoiding the awkward who-owes- who!

In the ever-changing world of phone apps, these are at the top of our list right now.  You can out on us to keep on eye on the App Store, impatiently waiting for the new awesome app to be released.
