YouTube video covered by the National Networks again

“Coming Up” on ABC World News … a YouTube Video. Again.

If you have any lingering doubts about the importance of online video, consider this; last night on ABC World News, Diane Sawyer shifted the focus on one of the greatest news organizations on the planet to cover the story of a young woman resigning from her job at a video production shop … in a video.
It was pretty clever … if you haven’t seen it, watch here.
Her former employer’s response rose to the occasion, sort of – but is that national news?

Why yes, I suppose it is. Now at least it is. Sure, the other networks covered it also – each likely (if the ABC segment was any indication) creating a ‘feature story’ about the video that was longer than the video itself! “Not a big news day” is not the response this time – the other major news of the day was the United States Federal Government shutting down.
You may consider this further evidence that the big broadcast news networks are becoming more and more irrelevant, but consider this as well: this means YouTube and more importantly; user generated contend (meaning; real people making real life videos) is now MORE relevant than the national news network – we know this because they tell us so, by featuring YouTube videos as part of their “news” programming.

What Does This Mean to YOU?
This shows, again, how fascinated we as a nation (and as a world) have become with Real-Life-Video – the opportunity for you to join in is right now. The bar to entry is pretty low (you have a smart phone, you have a video camera – enough to start) and demand is high. Make a short video answering the most commonly asked question that you get, post it and see what happens.

Video is far and away the best way to tell your story, to share your business stories with the world – it’s not that big a deal, just do a few and then do some that are better than the first ones – simple.
People Want to see your videos – maybe even Diane Sawyer 🙂

Happy filming, enjoy success!
